About midway through the book, the author does something brilliantly creative when the members of the remaining team enter the "neuralnet," he does a choose your own adventure for one chapter. This was also my first experience of the first incarnation of the doctor and it was interesting to encounter a doctor who was constrained by age. If you read my review of Stephen Cole's To The Slaughter you will know why I grabbed this book. I suppose the main market for the novel would have to be Dr. Who fans, but in truth, I think this is a novel with more general appeal. But all of them still capture the spirit of the show; playing out like actual episodes, while being able to utilize things that would be extremely difficult to create on the show (in terms of special effects). It probably really deserved 4 1/2 stars, because the ending could of been a bit better, but overall still one you'll want to have on your shelf. And when I discovered there were a ton of novels based on the show as well, I knew I had to check them out.
